2 weeks

Timmy is a little over 2 weeks now. We sure love him! He is a very mellow/calm baby. He only ever cries to let me know he's hungry, and even that cry isn't much. He did have a bit of trouble with jaundice and weight loss when I brought him home, so I had to take him back to the hospital to have him put under the lights. After a couple of days under the lights, his bilirubin went back down and we were able to bring him home. His weight did drop a whole lb during that time. At birth he was 7lbs 15oz and when we left the hospital from having him put under the lights, he was at 7lbs 1oz. As of this morning, his weight is back up to 7 lbs 11.5 ounces. So all is well. I am strictly breast feeding him, so that makes me feel good.

Last weekend I took a few newborn pictures of him. Trying to savor this short time. I nursed him and had him all calm and sleeping... until I took the diaper off. Then he was awake the rest of the time. He pee'd on my bed twice and had a little hershey squirt on a blanket once. So, thankfully I got a couple of keepers in all the mess. :)

This one is my absolute favorite. Captured his personality perfectly.

This one I took of him wrapped in the beautiful blanket that my sister Lynlee made for him. I love love love the blanket. Must take a better picture of it to show.

This is a popular position with my kids. Aubri had her legs like this during her first few weeks of life as well. It's pretty cute.

Aubri truly has adjusted well. She has definitely had some whining moments, but she is always wanting to help with her baby brother. She likes to give him mooches and asks to hold him alot. She is very curious about the breast feeding though. Yesterday she lifted up her shirt and placed her doll on her chest and said she was feeding her baby too. I got a good laugh out of it. She has also tapped on my stomach and told me she had another baby brother in there. *sigh* :(

Anyway, I thought the below picture was too cute not to share. Aubri had on her grandma Jones' glasses and sitting on our couch trying to act like a grown up.

Timothy "Tiger" is here!

We had our baby boy! Timothy Edward Jones Jr. arrived Tuesday, June 8th at 12:45 am. He weighed 7 lbs 15.9 oz and 20 inches long. His birthday is easy to remember at least... 6.8.10.

I now know what people are talking about when they say every birth/pregnancy is different. I was induced at 7 am on Monday morning, expecting things to go quickly, but no. I was showing strong contractions on the paper, but I wasn't feeling them. Just a tightening of my stomach. The nurse kept upping my pitocin but they still couldn't get the contractions to come closer. By 5 pm, the nurse convinced me to get an epidural. The epidural was a bit overwhelming. I started feeling pretty numb in the shoulders so I had to ask them to turn it down. Every time my doctor came in to check me, I was not progressing any further. So, my doctor decided to stick a wand (can't remember what they called it, lol!) up in my uterus that determines how strong the contractions really are. My doctor said it has been known to cause some women to go into strong labor and they have their babies within the hour. Well, it worked on me. About 5 minutes to midnight, I felt lots of pressure and the nurse checked me... sure enough I had dilated from a 4 to a 9 in the hour. Within the next 5 minutes, my doctor came in and they had me start pushing. It took 45 minutes of pushing to get him out. The doctor had to suction his head out in the end to help me because his heart rate was dropping fast. He had the cord around his neck. When he was half way out, the doctor told me to reach down and grab him and pull him up on my stomach. That was a new experience for me. It was amazing. He laid there on my stomach, not breathing yet. He was pretty blue, so they took him under the heat lamp and rubbed on him for a few minutes to get him going. He still never cried. It made me very nervous but the nurses and my mom kept trying to assure me he was fine. He was so sweet and quiet. So so precious. I instantly fell in love.

My hubby was a little jealous because he never opened his eyes until they put him back on my chest the second time and I started talking to him. Tim's convinced he'll be a mamas boy. I guess its my turn since Aubriana is quite the daddies girl.

We adore him! Aubriana is such a sweet big sister. She keeps asking to hold him and kiss him on the head. She has to check on him too if he starts crying. He is a bit jaundice right now, so we are working on getting that to go away. He nurses very well, so hopefully it will pass soon.

My mom was able to be there this time and help me during the labor. My mother-in-law came and tended to Aubri. We were so blessed with the help we received and continue to receive. Having 2 kiddos is a big adjustment right now, but we will get use to it. Couldn't be more blessed and happy. :)

The following are pictures I took of him before, during, and after his first bath...

Pat on my back...

So I totally have to give myself a huge pat on the back. I hit a milestone in sewing. Seriously proud of myself. I've sewn a few things that are difficult (according to me) in the past. But nothing that came without a pattern or instructions.

When we had Aubriana, we were so excited about a girl, we just went all out. We bought a pink car seat with a matching stroller. Ok ok... it was really just on sale and pink, so it worked.

Well, now we are having a boy and Tim cannot bring home his boy in a "pink" car seat! It's illegal. So I was making plans on buying a new one. I was cringing at the prices. I didn't want to have to buy a new one, when I had a perfectly fine one at home already. So my sis-in-law, Lurlyn, told me about some moms who made their own car seat cover. So we got on etsy and I found and bought a tutorial. It totally looked like my seat in the tutorial... it was a graco, how many different graco seats can they have? Well, it didn't work with mine! Yikes! So I decided to just take the plunge and figure it out on my own. I tore the old one apart and used it as a sort of pattern and just went from there. It took me two days (tending to a 2 yr old in between) but I did it! Its nice when my hubby sees it and says how awesome it is. Makes me feel good. :)

So here is the before... pink and dirty, Lol! (i had already started taking it apart before I thought to take a before photo, whoops!)
Before

The after! We refer to Timmy Jr. as "little Tiger" so I found the cute fabric on fabricworm with a coordinating brown. We're big on nick names around here. Aubriana tells everyone she sees, while pointing at my belly, "this is my baby brother tiger." I still need to figure out, tear apart and sew the canopy. Yikes! :)
After

Now I'm off to treat myself to a seriously needed hair cut! I wish I was brave enough to cut it all off. :)

The Final Stretch!

Today is the day... next month, that I'll be induced. Hooray!!!

I'm very excited to have our little guy. I can't wait! It will be a fantastic b-day gift for myself. Sometimes I think the little guy is more ready then I am by the way he moves around like he's going to bust through my belly. I can't believe how much he moves compared to Aubs. It's crazy!

I can still see my feet. Barely. :/
feet are still visible

Below are some fun pictures we took last weekend. I love pictures... they say so much.

When the tide is really low, you can walk out to this little Island that is usually surrounded by water. It was a fun adventure.

I asked Aubriana to strike a pose... and this is what she came up with?!

I just thought this picture was so cute. Aubri was throwing rocks in the water outside our house and Minnie would not leave her sight. She was so worried about the water getting Aubri. Isn't that sweet?!

We've had lots of rain this past week, so when the sun was setting the other night, it was amazing! The picture doesn't even do it justice. I tried though. We are blessed with this incredible view everday at the new house we are renting.

Ouch!... :(

It was a craptacular wonderful Monday... you ever have one of those?

It started with the realization that my brand new tires (like less then 2000 miles new) on the front of my car were completely bald on the outside. Hmmm... somethings definitely not right. My back tires (also new) were completely fine. So, I decide to go to the mainland (yes, thats what we call it when you live on an island) yesterday and take my car back into Les Schwab and have them fix it. They were kind and gave me half off of my alignment but only 10% off my tires. Considering it was my cars fault that my tires went bad, they couldn't do much else for me. Ug... big time money down the drain for the first set of tires I had put on.

Anyway, it was SUPER WINDY yesterday. I mean bad! I had to take the Ferry home, and with the wind and waves, it was a rockin ride back.

In comes the ouchy part of the story.

I can barely keep my balance with my big belly, let alone keep my balance on a rocking ferry. So I grab a seat by the window with Aubri. She is 2 and had been sitting most of the day, so she had some energy to get out. She took off running away from me to go jump from chair to chair. I was thinking that wasn't such a great idea since the Ferry was rocking pretty bad, so I got up and took her off the chairs and told her to come sit with me. She immediately started jumping up and down and throwing a tantrum (I know what you're thinking, how could sweet Aubri throw a tantrum? It does happen... on occasion, haha!). Right when she started throwing her tantrum, the boat hit a wave and she went flying, literally, towards a table that pokes out from the wall and hit right on her eye. She's crying hysterically and holding her eye, which I can't see and hoping there wasn't blood gushing out. Thankfully there wasn't but her eye immediately started to swell up.

Aubriana's 1st & hopefully last shiner. (it looks worse in person)
:(

Am I a mean mom when she says, "mommy, my eyeball hurt!" and I say, "bad things happen when you throw tantrums."

It was of course followed by a hug and a mooch to make it feel better. Thats ok. Right?

1st & hopefully last shiner :(

Don't let this scare you if you ever want to visit. Just make sure you remain seated whenever the Ferry is rocking. :)

The 411...

On Wednesday I had a Dr.'s appt and was told they were going to do a 3D ultrasound of our baby. So Tim took work off to go with me. I was soooo excited! We had a 3D when I was about 28 weeks with Aubriana, and it was so awesome. We looked at the 3D pictures for days after, like we were obsessed. It's so exciting to see what they look like. This time around wasn't as exciting. It doesn't really help that I don't quite care for my doctor. She hurries thru every appt like she's a robot and not really thinking about me & how I could possibly be feeling, or if I may be having any problems. I also have to remind her to check things... like my thyroid! Since I have hypothyroidism, my levels need to be checked at least every other time. She was also scheduling me to come back in another 4 weeks until I said, "shouldn't you be seeing me every 2 weeks now?" A tad frustrating. I was so spoiled by my AWESOME doctor in Englewood, CO when I was prego with Aubri. I so wish I could have Dr. Granadillo again... I miss her :(.

Any who... we had a 3D ultrasound, did I mention that already? Even though it went really quick, we were able to take home a dvd copy of it with some not so great pictures. Technology, isn't it amazing?! The Dr. comfirmed, once again, that its a boy. Yeah!

I think his face looks quite a bit like Aubs did in her 3D pictures... so it looks like its gonna be another mini Tim, besides the fact that my nose gene is very strong.

Another comforting thing we found out... he is head down and curved in my belly. In my earlier appts, my dr. was telling me that the baby was completely sideways. I was a bit worried about it, considering the fact that its a breach position. My belly is completely lopsided. It bulges out on the left side big time, which puts my belly button off center. Looks a bit weird to me and I get stares quite often. :/

He is definitely a cutie but looking a bit crowded.

Sorry, I seem a bit negative. I've caught Aubri's sickness and we are moving this weekend (a tad stressed). We are all super super excited to meet our little guy. I can hardly stand another month.

A little update on Aubriana...

She is in the best moods in the morning time... not so much when she wakes up from her afternoon nap. Kind of a grump.

She now knows all her colors and LOVES to quiz us about them all the time. Now she is focusing on numbers it seems. I catch her counting all the time. She'll even count up to 16 (skipping a few numbers inbetween of course). :)

She is still crazy about princesses. I got a CD of all the disney princess songs and she wants to listen to it all the time. She knows which princess goes with which song before any singing even starts. She has an extremely good memory.

She is attached to me all day long. She has to be wherever I am and tell me things almost 100 times before she moves on to something else. Its a bit trying on my nerves sometimes, but I love our girl! :)

She loves daddy time too! She is truly a fun 2 year old that makes us laugh pretty much every day.

Happy Easter!

Aubri's first time being able to color eggs for Easter! She loved it considering the fact that she now knows her colors really well. She had lots of fun! Hope everyone has a nice Easter (weather permitting)!
